Bettors Like the Home Team: Brazil Early Favorites in 2014 World Cup

Brazil knocked out from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa in the quarterfinals and they’re sitting at number four in the latest world rankings from FIFA.

But the home team has a huge edge in the World Cup, and the odds at Pinnacle Sportsbook reflects this advantage. Brazil is the most likely team to win the World Cup in 2014, taking place in Brazil in just a month.

The latest odds to win the 2014 World Cup have Brazil sitting as the +279 favorites, followed by Argentina at +454, Germany at +541, and defending-champion Spain at 618.

The latest FIFA world rankings have Spain as the top rated country. Germany is #2, with Portugal, Brazil, and Columbia rounding out the top five.
Belgium then sits at 14/1 on those same odds to win the FIFA 2014 World Cup, with France at 20/1, and each of Italy, Uruguay, and Colombia at 22/1.

Colombia will get a spark if Radamel Falcao can make it back for the World Cup. Falcao had a severe ACL injury in January and hasn’t played since. He has been listed on Columbia’s provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup, however. The final 23 players must be named on June 2nd.

The English team is expected to play without forward Theo Walcott, who is also rehabbing a serious knee injury. The Brits, ranked #11 by FIFA, are +2600 to win the title.

The Americans are huge underdogs. Pinnacle has listed the US as +12184 odds; a $100 bet will bring back over $12,000 if a Miracle on Turf strikes for the US.
