Justice_Legal_CourtOne of the things that we have seen quite a bit of recently in the online casino industry is different countries reexamining their legislative stance on the issue.

Not so long ago prohibition was very much the order of the day and that trend seems to have been reversed to a large degree. Both in Europe and further a field, many countries are now now looking at traveling the regulation and taxation route.

Australia is now the latest addition to this growing list with the publishing of a report by t he country’s Federal Productivity Commission. This report suggest that the country would be much better served by a taxation and regulatory environment that would be much friendlier to the industry than the country’s current prohibitive stance.

Finance and the global economic downturn have been at the heart of many of these movements in other countries and the situation is very much driven by the same engine here.

Australia has also found that the prohibitive approach has been less than effective in dealing with the issue.

This report, of course, will not necessarily lead directly to new legislation but it is certainly a step inĀ  the right direction.
