One of the the true pioneers of the online casino industry passed away over the weekend. Aharon Shaked was one of the founders of 888 and was very much at the forefront of the development of the industry in its formative years.

Aharon Shaked along with his brother Avi formed the company in 1997 after witnessing first hand how effective a business model the traditional casino was and sensing that there was huge potential for taking a version of this business model onto the then fledgling consumer area of the Internet.

The company went on to be listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2005.

Many things have changed within the industry in the years since the brothers started 888 but Aharon Shaked will always be looked up on as one of the pioneers.
